Cold Filter Plugging Point of Diesel and Domestic Heating Fuels – Linear Cooling Method

The Cold Filter Plugging Point is an important characteristic for diesel and domestic heating fuels. This Application Report describes how to determine the Cold Filter Plugging Point with Anton Paar’s Callisto 100.

All diesel fuels contain waxes. When the temperature of the fuel decreases, wax crystals will begin to precipitate at a specific sample-dependent temperature. If a certain amount of wax precipitates, the crystals can block fuel flow through filters and other restricted passages in the fuel system.
