Material Brief: N2 and Ar Adsorption Analysis of a Flexible Metal-Organic Framework - autosorb iQ

A dynamic metal-organic framework (MOF) was analyzed using N2 (77 K) and Ar (87 K) on the autosorb iQ. The framework flexibility was observed in the adsorption isotherms. BET area and pore volume were calculated.

Important properties for MOFs and similar materials include the BET area as determined by Rouquerol’s method and recommended by IUPAC. Similarly, the total pore volume determined near the saturation pressure of the adsorbate also informs scientists of the available space for storing or separating analytes within the porous framework. The autosorb iQ was used to measure adsorption isotherms of a flexible MOF for subsequent calculation of these critical material properties.
