In a record-breaking time of 199 working days only, Anton Paar has built a new innovative assembly center at its company site in Graz, Austria. All logistic workflows of the high-tech company are now brought together under one roof. The assembly center was opened on April 11.
13,333 m2 floor space have been created in Anton Paar GmbH’s new assembly center in Graz, Austria. The world market leader of density measurement, material characterization and rheometry has invested 17 million Euro in order to center the entire workflow from the reception of incoming goods to the shipping of the high-precision measuring instruments in a single building.
“The streamlined manufacturing of our products is essential to the further development of our company. To this end, all fields of mechanical production were already situated in one hall in 2005. The next logical step was to bring together our electronic production, the assembly of our measuring instruments, the quality control, storage and shipping in one building”, says Dominik Santner, supervisor to the construction project which started on June 3, 2013. The center was opened with a festivity for all on-site employees and their partners on April 11, 2014.
The assembly center is built to accommodate 300 workplaces; 220 employees will move to the center in the next few weeks, together with more than 25,000 diverse items used in the measuring instruments. These are kept in a new state-of-the-art automated small parts store stretched across two floors, from which they are picked, approved and accepted for instrument assembly.
The Graz-based high-tech company is seeing continuous growth. The entire group – the company has 21 subsidiaries worldwide – has generated revenues of 202 million Euro in 2013. In 2009, the company’s turnover amounted to 102 million Euro. Anton Paar employs 2000 people worldwide, more than half of these in Styria. In 2009, 1100 people worked for the company.
Further expansion to the site is already planned. The company kindergarten and the dining hall for the employees will be given more space next year to accommodate the increased number of colleagues.
