e-SPRESSO WEBINAR: Characterizing Supported Metal Catalysts

The downstream petroleum industry employs a supported metal catalyst for reforming (increasing aromatic content for increased octane value). Hydrogenation reactions employ similar active metals, as do automotive emission catalysts. It's possible to quantitatively determine the extent of gas-accessible reactive sites, and dispersion, using the adsorption of suitable reactive gases, i.e. chemisorption.

Key insights:
• Metal area, dispersion, nanocluster size
• Sample preparation
• Selecting the right adsorbate
• Vacuum-volumetric (manometric) gas sorption method and technology
• Dynamic flow gas sorption method and technology
• Irreversible and reversible chemisorption, spillover, stoichiometry

In this webinar, you will learn how chemisorption is used to characterize supported metal heterogeneous catalysts, and the relative benefits of the two alternative experimental approaches. The capabilities of automated instruments to make these measurements will be presented.
