ASTM D5: Asphalt Penetration Made Easy

ASTM D5, the Standard Test Method for Penetration of Bituminous Materials, is one of the old guard of testing methods in the petroleum industry.  With a sharp needle and calibrated weight, asphalt for various applications from roads to roofing shingles can be accurately tested to ensure both product quality and consistency.  This webinar will cover the scope and test method of ASTM D5 before moving to discuss the advances in product testing provided by the Anton Paar PNR 12 penetration meter.  By providing automation to certain parts of the method, such as surface detection, and measurement of both penetration time and distance, the PNR 12 can provide improved repeatability for asphalt samples of all types.
