Material Brief: Micropore Size Distribution of Biochar - NOVAtouch
Biochar was analysed using CO2 adsorption on the NOVAtouch. The micropore size distribution was calculated from the data.
Important properties for biochar include the pore size distribution, which can relate to its performance for use in agriculture and environmental remediation applications, clean water projects, and carbon sequestration. Because of the typically small micropores found in biochar, CO2 (273 K) adsorption coupled with N2 (77 K) adsorption allows one to obtain a full micro-mesopore size distribution. The NOVAtouch was used for these measurements on a biochar and this report outlines the CO2 adsorption and subsequent micropore size calculation.
