Project Kalam: 6 Years On

2021-02-26 | Corporate

Kalam means pen in Hindi. But it is also the name of an unusual school project which Anton Paar India – supported by the whole Anton Paar Group – has overseen for the last six years.

Funds were raised for more than 2,000 students, to renovate their school, and provide them with basic supplies. Thanks to the 60,000 Euros generated so far. Children in five schools now have a place they like to be in again, and where they can prepare for their future. The project is set to continue in the coming years.

Education is the future
Dharmesh Gala (GM at AP India) is happy about its success: “Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and school educations lays the foundation to achieve knowledge, values, skills, beliefs, and moral habits. Utilizing the CSR funds for bettering the very downtrodden regional schools where our existing colleagues have studied, is the best way to give back to the society. Each employee of Anton Paar India feels the pride of supporting these schools where our future generations will come from.”

Helping where help is needed
India has more than 1.2 billion inhabitants, of whom roughly a third are under the age of 15 and should therefore be in school. Rural areas in particular suffer from great poverty. “Many schools there are in desolate condition, “explains Tulika Shukla, the project’s coordinator from Anton Paar India. “We choose schools that need help and where, with the assistance of volunteers and the involvement of the school authorities, we are able to make the school a place again where children like to learn.”

It’s heartwarming to see people making a difference where help is needed. Thank you.
