Eye care application - characterization of contact lenses and eye drops

This webinar will focus on how nanomechanical testing, surface charge analysis, tribology, and refractive index measurement improve contact lens and eye drop performance. We will discuss how nanoindentation and nanotribology measurement techniques contribute to the understanding of contact lens comfort, wear and tear, and storage. You will also learn how the behavior of eye drops can differ according to their composition and condition, as well as how to measure the refractive index of contact lens materials. All of these studies contribute to a better understanding of the interaction between the eye and the ophthalmic products, which can be used to optimize product design.

The main topics will be:

  • Modulus and friction properties of contact lenses
  • Surface charge analysis of contact lenses
  • Extended Stribeck curve and viscosity curve of eye drops
  • Refractive index measurement of contact lens materials
