Service Engineer (m/f)

The Service Engineer provides service and technical support to customers in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of highly complex analytical instrumentation. The successful candidate will focus on certain product lines and become the subject matter expert for the assigned product lines. 


  • Providing technical support to customers via telephone and/or email
  • Investigating, interpreting, and diagnosing scientific instrumentation
  • Conducting technical repairs, calibrations and maintenance of instruments
  • Providing on-site training and support to the customers
  • Maintaining proper and correct records of parts and supplies used and related business expenses
  • Performing on-site troubleshooting, service and repairs
  • Evaluating malfunctioning instruments and preparing estimates for the cost of repair
  • Coordinating and performing onsite repairs and preventive maintenance according to the established procedures and standards
  • Selling maintenance contracts to customers
  • Performing factory calibrations (ISO 17025, if required)
  • Creating and maintaining service reports in the CRM
  • Ensuring that all necessary personal service tools for the performance of a service are valid and up to date in terms of condition and calibration needs
  • Interfacing with cross functional work teams such as applications, customer support/services, product management, manufacturing and marketing/sales
  • Completing administrative tasks associated with the CRM service module as to log all support ticket and service orders in the CRM Service
  • Taking responsibility for personal warehouse/stock
  • Forwarding sales opportunities to Sales Representatives when instruments need to be replaced
  • Attending all necessary Anton Paar service trainings for the relevant product lines
  • Substituting for other Field Service Engineers within the country


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering, physics or related field is preferred
  • 3 years of experience in repairing and maintaining complex analytical instruments and troubleshooting
  • Three or more years in customer facing role
  • Knowledge of the theoretical and practical application of engineering, science and technology
  • Skill in using electronic schematics, electronic testing equipment and repair tools
  • High technical and analytical problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication in English language and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Self-employment and good organizational skills
  • Must maintain a current and valid driver‘s license
