From Electrode Powders to Battery Separators: A Practical Approach for Characterizing Your Battery Materials

Are you trying to increase the lifespan of your lithium-ion battery? Do you want to optimize your battery’s power output?

Then this webinar is the place to be.

You’ll learn about the most viable measurement and characterization techniques for battery materials like solid electrode materials, slurries, separators, and electrolytes.

Highlights:

  • Specific surface area determination of cathode and anode materials
  • Particle size and size distribution of electrode materials
  • Flow behavior determination of battery slurries
  • Pore size and pore size distribution of battery separators

Christopher Giehl

Dr. Christopher Giehl has been with Anton Paar since 2018, first as a trainer and product specialist for rheometry, now as a product competence team manager with a focus on training and communication. He studied mineralogy with a major in material sciences, holds a doctorate in volcanology from University of Tübingen (Germany), and was a lab manager and assistant professor for experimental mineralogy at Kiel University (Germany).

Martin Thomas

Dr. Thomas, Anton Paar QuantaTec’s Lead Scientist, has more than 37 years of experience in powder and porous materials characterization, 27 of those with Quantachrome Instruments before Anton Paar’s acquisition in 2018. Dr. Thomas graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK) with a Master’s degree in analytical chemistry followed by a PhD in physical-inorganic chemistry. He is named co-inventor on ten patents relating to porous solids and their characterization, and is co-author of “Characterization of Porous Solids and Powders: Surface Area, Pore Size and Density” (published by Springer).

Vittorio Capello

Dr. Vittorio Cappello studied chemistry at the University of Turin in Italy. He carried out his studies in Austria where he got a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry in 2005. He joined Anton Paar in 2019 as a market development manager in the department of density and concentration and then worked as product manager in the department of analytic and synthetic chemistry. His main focus is the chemical industry.
