No curing: Wet and Dry particle size measurement for cement
Cement is a mixture of a variety of materials, commonly including limestone, shells, and chalk or marl combined with shale, clay, slate, blast furnace slag, silica sand and iron ore. These ingredients, when heated at high temperatures, form a rock-like substance that is ground into the fine powder that we commonly think of as cement.
Size diminution during grinding is not straight forward, as different raw components have different grindabilities. The duration of grinding period needs to be optimized and controlled by monitoring the particle size distribution at almost every step of the process. Particle size has a major influence not only on the hydration curve of cement, but also on the properties of the final product including strength and aging.
In this webinar you will:
- Get a short introduction to particle size analysis by means of Laser diffraction
- Learn about the possibility to measure cement in liquid and dry mode
- See some typical measurement results obtained from both measurement modes
