The characterization of the flow properties of polymer melts is an important aspect of the design of extrusion equipment. While the industry is using standards such as Melt Flow Index (MFI) or Melt Flow Rate (MFR), the determination of shear rate and temperature dependent viscosity is critical for successful tooling design.

In this webinar, the importance of rheology for extrusion die design will be discussed using examples of measurements for various grades of polyolefins.

He is currently responsible for Technology advancements at Cloeren Incorporated of Orange, Texas -  a solution supplier for coextruded flat film, sheet and extrusion coating tooling technology. He holds a Master of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Cemef – Mines ParisTech.
