Analysis of Heavy Metals in Cannabis
Sales in the legal cannabis industry were close to $10 billion in North America in 2017, which was a 33% increase over 2016. As this industry continues to grow, there is a major need for the qualification of highly toxic metals that can be absorbed from the soil as the plants grow. The first step in the analysis is proper sample preparation using microwave digestion.

Darren Wilson has been with Anton Paar USA since 2005, primarily as a product specialist for density meters, viscometers, refractometers, NIR analyzers, process instrumentation and most recently, laboratory microwaves. He has authored and co-authored several articles on various topics such as precision density measurement and biogeochemistry. He has a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Biogeochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
