Characterization Techniques for Powders, Particles, and Porous Media


Quantitative, reliable, relevant, and robust. These are the cornerstones for meaningful characterization techniques and the strengths of the Anton Paar instruments designed for the characterization of powders, particles and porous media. 

This one day seminar is designed to provide basic introductory information on the measurement of powder rheology (flow) and fluidization; particle size and distribution; bulk density, porosity, and surface area. Researchers, scientists, engineers, chemists, materials scientists, and students interested in these type of materials and their characterization are encouraged to register. 

To complement the seminar, on Friday July 17th, an optional hands-on workshop will be conducted for attendees wishing to return and make measurements on their own samples. There is limited seating available for our optional hands-on workshop.

Mark Haase completed his PhD studies in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, on the synthesis and characterization of Spinnable Carbon Nanotube Arrays. Prior to that, Mark earned a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. During his academic career, Mark extensively used AFMs and other characterization tools, which benefited him starting his new career as Product Specialist at Anton Paar USA in 2018. Mark has been supporting researchers and engineers in academic and corporate environments solving materials testing challenges ever since.
