High-temperature XRD: History and modern applications

Today, in-situ non-ambient X-ray diffraction (NA-XRD) is an indispensable method for determining material properties, and the diverse attachments available commercially cover almost all possible experimental requirements. High-temperature XRD is of particular importance, and is applied in a variety of different fields. The state-of-the-art technology available today is the result of a long history of development and improvement. From the first machines developed by pioneering researchers roughly 100 years ago, and the first commercial non-ambient attachments available in the 1950s, the discipline of NA-XRD has come a long way – and is worth exploring. Anton Paar has been part of this journey since the production of the HTK10 in 1964, and is the world leader in the field of NAXRD attachments today.

In this webinar, we will give you an overview of high-temperature XRD measurements and provide more information on:

  • State-of-the-art technology for high-temperature XRD
  • Application examples of high-temperature XRD
  • The history of in-situ high-temperature XRD and Anton Paar’s role

Target group:

  • Anyone performing non-ambient XRD experiments
  • Anyone interested in high-temperature experiments
  • Anyone interested in history and instrumentation in general

Dr. Barbara Puhr obtained her PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Graz, with a focus in petrology and geochemistry. Following a post-doctoral fellowship and some years of experience in X-ray diffraction in an industrial R&D facility, she joined Anton Paar in July 2014 and currently works as the product manager for Non-Ambient X-ray attachments.
