Material Brief: Active Metal Area and Dispersion of a Pd Catalyst - autosorb iQ

The autosorb iQ-C was used to measure the static H2 and CO chemisorption isotherms on a Pd-on-carbon catalyst. Active metal area and dispersion were calculated from the data.

Important properties for supported metal catalysts include the active metal area and the % metal dispersion. Active metal area is the quantification of available catalytically-active metal sites within the material and dispersion gives an idea of the synthesis efficiency or how much metal is “wasted” in the catalyst synthesis process. Active metal area and dispersion are largely controlled by the synthesis method and catalyst support. The autosorb iQ-C was used to measure the active metal area and dispersion of a Pd-on-carbon catalyst using H2 and CO static chemisorption.
