Polymer Workshop – Unlocking Insights in Industry Applications

Join us for a full-day, hands-on Polymer Workshop designed for professionals and researchers looking to deepen their understanding of polymer analysis. This workshop will showcase Anton Paar’s cutting-edge instruments and technologies tailored for the polymer industry, offering an ideal platform for learning, networking, and exploring innovative material characterization solutions.

Whether you are involved in quality control, R&D, or production, this workshop will help you gain practical insights into how Anton Paar instruments can simplify workflows and provide precise, reproducible results in polymer analysis.

This workshop combines theoretical background with interactive, hands-on sessions led by our technical experts. You will explore instruments including:

  • FTIR Spectrometer: Lyza 7000 for rapid compositional analysis
  • Rolling and Falling Ball Viscometer: Lovis 2001 for precise intrinsic viscosity measurements
  • Modular Compact Rheometer series for advanced rheological profiling
  • Brabender Aquatrac, Metastation and Extruder for mechanical and thermal evaluation
Agenda:
  • 09h00 to 09h30: Registration
  • 09h30 to 10h00: Lovis theory
  • 10h00 to 10h30: Lyza theory
  • 10h30 to 10h40: Break
  • 10h40 to 11h20: Practical – session one
  • 11h20 to 11h50: Practical – session two
  • 11h50 to 13h00: MCR theory
  • 13h00 to 13h45: Lunch
  • 13h45 to 14h30: Brabender theory
  • 14h30 to 15h00: Practical – session three
  • 15h00 to 15h30: Practical – session four 

Participants will be split into two groups (stations) to engage in interactive instrument demonstrations:

Session one and two will rotate between:

  • Station one: Rolling and Falling Ball Viscometer
  • Station two: FTIR Spectrometer

Session three and four will rotate between: 

  • Station three: Modular Compact Rheometer series
  • Station four: Brabender Aquatrac, Metastation and Extruder

NOTE: Please remember to wear closed shoes for the laboratory demonstrations.

Serena Govender

Serena completed her BSc in Applied Chemistry from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2015. She started her career as a QC Analyst, which then progressed into sales. In 2023 she joined Anton Paar Southern Africa as a Sales Specialist for Characterization focusing on Surface Characterization. In 2024 she was promoted to Product Manager for Viscosity and Petroleum Testing.

Tracy Mashiane

Tracy holds a Masters in Chemistry from VUT and would like to expand her knowledge in Environmental Management. She joined Anton Paar Southern Africa in 2024 as Sales Specialist in Characterization focusing on Torque Rheology. 

Monique Greyling

Monique holds an Honours degree in Biochemistry obtained from North-West University. She has specialized as an application and sales specialist in wet chemistry over the past 6 years. In 2024 she joined Anton Paar as a Product Manager, with a focus on FTIR technology.
