ISO 17025 calibration

ISO/IEC 17025 is a recognized international standard that specifies general requirements for the competence to carry out calibrations.

Accredited organizations are able to demonstrate that they deliver accurate and reliable results – Anton Paar Headquarters in Austria as well as its subsidiaries in the USA and Mexico are accredited in accordance with ISO 17025. This confirms our technical competence to perform highly accurate density measurements traceable to SI units with digital density meters based on the oscillating U-tube principle.

Accreditation and international recognition of Anton Paar calibrations

  • Anton Paar Headquarters are accredited by Akkreditierung Austria (Accreditation Austria). Akkreditierung Austria is a signatory to the multilateral agreements of the European Co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for the mutual recognition of calibration certificates. Which Anton Paar density meters do we calibrate?

Calibration workflow us

  • 1 Initial density check

    We use ultrapure water at 20 °C for an initial density check. The result gives us a first impression of the condition of your Anton Paar density meter.

  • 2 Temperature calibration

    Meters can be divided into two groups: laboratory benchtop meters with their own thermostats and meters which cannot control sample temperature – such as portable meters. Benchtop density meters are set to stabilize at calibration temperature overnight before starting a calibration. In the case of portable density meters we pass temperature-controlled water through the measurement cell.
    The displayed temperature reading is checked using a traceable platinum resistance thermometer.

  • 3 Temperature adjustment

    If the deviation between the measured and reference temperature is bigger than the specified accuracy in the user manual, we perform a temperature adjustment.

  • 4 Service / repairs

    If agreed with the customer the density meter is serviced or repaired, especially if initial testing shows that the instrument is not operational.

  • 5 Density adjustment

    A density adjustment is performed with air and ultrapure water of Quality 2 according to DIN ISO 3696.

  • 6 Density calibration at requested temperature and density

    We calibrate density meters by performing density measurements with a certified reference standard from an accredited supplier.

    By default, one density measurement is performed at 20 °C according to the specified density range.
    If requested, the density calibration can be performed with different density standards and at different temperatures. We can calibrate your density meters in a range from 650 kg/m³ to 1550 kg/m³ and between 15 °C and 40 °C.
