Advantages of microwave technology

When heating materials using thermal convection, the heating occurs from the outside in.

When using Microwave energy the material is heated from the inside out. The dielectric dissipation is independent of the heat flow on the surface of the material.

Benefits:

  • Energy minimization
  • Time minimization
  • No inertia; when the microwave radiation is switched off, the source of heat is immediately removed from the object

Example (right side):
Heating a vessel in an oil bath (A) and using microwaves (B)
