Rotor systems for different applications

Combichem Beyond Belief

Parallel Optimization

Library Generation

The unique Rotor 4x48MC Well Plate utilizes sealable silicon carbide microtiter plates with a common 6x8 matrix. Silicon carbide ensures utmost temperature homogeneity and even allows efficient application of low-absorbing solvents. Moreover, the sophisticated sealing mechanism (patent pending) enables for the first time reactions to be performed in a common microtiter format at elevated conditions. Operation limits of        200 °C and 20 bar open up exceptional avenues for reaction screening and lead optimization. Capable for 4 well plates, thus 192 reactions in parallel, this new rotor represents an effective tool for microwave-mediated combinatorial chemistry.

Benefits:

  • Sophisticated CombiChem approach
  • Utmost temperature homogeneity
  • Effective application of low absorbing solvents

The high-throughput Rotor 64MG5 is specially designed for library generation of valuable targets and parallel method optimization. Its reliable setup features 64 disposable glass vials arranged in 16 groups of four. Effective sealing with modified screw caps allows using the 5 mL standard vials for reaction conditions of 200 °C and 20 bar as well.

Benefits:

  • Inexpensive solution for high sample throughput
  • Parallelism for efficient workflow
  • Rapid cooling

The Rotor 48MF50 is designed for library generation in gram scale. Each reaction vessel consists of a 50 mL PFA liner, a pressure jacket made of reinforced PEEK and a screw cap containing a cone seal and a metal rupture disk for overpressure release (MF50). At an operation range of 200 °C and 20 bar, even small amounts such as only 6 mL in a single vessel can be processed effectively.
Reaction control is achieved on the center circle by IR control and more precisely by an immersing temperature/pressure sensor in one reference vessel.

Benefits

  • Efficient vessel design - only three parts to handle
  • Robust cone seals - no time consuming pre-forming necessary

Universal & Powerful

Rotor 16 is the perfect tool for a number of organic reactions up to 1L reaction volume or up to 16 parallel reactions. The rotor is equipped with 100 mL PTFE-TFM liners. The controlled operating pressure of the reaction vessels (MF100 and HF100) can be increased from 20 to 40 bar by simple exchanging of the pressure jackets.

Benefits:

  • Generation of product libraries in multi-gram scale
  • Applicable for solid phase chemistry

Working at the limit

Rotor 8 was specially designed for reactions under extreme conditions. To reach the highest possible temperature and pressure ranges (up to 80 bar at 300 °C), you can choose between two different vessel types (XF100 and XQ80). For experiments under inert or reactive gas atmosphere, there is an optional gas loading system which allows you to apply a pressure of up to 20 bar in each vessel before the experiment.

Precise temperature control

The temperature measurement plays a decisive role in organic synthesis. Synthos 3000 provides a dual solution for precise temperature control:
  • In one reference vessel, an immersed gas-balloon thermosensor measures the inner temperature with extremely high precision
  • The IR sensor in the base of the microwave chamber registers the outer temperature of each vessel

For the pressure measurement in Rotor 16, the reference vessel can be equipped with a combined pressure/temperature sensor. Rotor 8 works with a unique hydraulic system which measures the pressure simultaneously in all vessels.

Benefits at a glance

  • Simple, finger tight closure of vessels and rotors for quick and easy operation
  • Hermetic seals prevent loss of volatile components
  • Installation-free sensor technology
  • Wireless transmission of the measured reaction parameters
  • Shortened cooling phases ensure high sample throughput
  • Pressure release in the sealed rotor prevents contact with reaction gases
  • High overpressure tolerance provides trouble-free operation even under extreme conditions
