Pressure Cell

Rheology under pressure is used to simulate process conditions, to measure above the boiling point or to prevent sample evaporation. The specifications for the pressure cell are therefore tailored to each application. In petrochemical industries high pressures up to 400 bar and temperatures up to 300 °C are required, whereas work with low-viscosity solvents rather requires a sensitive, yet fully closed system. To cover these diverse applications, a range of different pressure cells and measuring systems is available.

General features of all pressure cells

  • Convenient handling and cleaning
  • Pressure unit for easy pressure connection
  • Online pressure sensor
  • Display of all recorded data including pressure values in the software
  • Pressure cell holder for convenient "parking and cleaning"
  • Certified safety concept

Starch Pressure Cell

  • The starch pressure cell is used to measure starch gelling behavior under pressure
  • The elevated pressure increases the boiling point
  • Electrical heating: from room temperature to 160 °C
  • Maximum pressure: 30 bar
  • Measuring systems: RVA vane, 6-blade vane, concentric cylinder

Standard Pressure Cell

  • Standard pressure cell for rheological measurements of samples with moderate and high viscosities at pressures up to 150 bar
  • Peltier temperature control: -30 °C to 200 °C
  • Electrical heating: from room temperature to 300 °C
  • Maximum pressure: 150 bar
  • Measuring systems: Concentric cylinder, double gap and parallel plate

Pressure Cell XL

  • Pressure Cell XL for samples with low viscosities down to 1 mPas
  • Pressure prevents evaporation and increases the boiling point
  • Liquid temperature control: -10 °C to 180 °C
  • Electrical heating: from room temperature to 200 °C
  • Maximum pressure: 150 bar
  • Measuring systems: Concentric cylinder, double gap

High Pressure Cell

  • High pressure cell for samples with low and moderate viscosities at pressures up to 400 bar
  • Liquid temperature control: -10 °C to 180 °C
  • Electrical heating: from room temperature to 200 °C
  • Maximum pressure: 400 bar
  • Material: titanium
  • Measuring systems: Concentric cylinder, double gap
